Jules Schubot started as an usher at the historic Bonstelle Theatre in downtown Detroit.  He met many of  the performers coming to town and frequently procured jewelry and gifts for the celebrities. This helped him start his own store 1917. From there it continued to grow, and Jules developed relationships with celebrities including Tony Martin, who introduced him to Frank Sinatra and Joan Crawford.

Jules philosophy quickly made him the jeweller for a new class of customer - the corporate captains who flexed Detroit's industrial might. Customers knew that a purchase from Jules meant not only that it was stylish, but it also had enduring value.

Jules' son, Douglas, joined the firm in the late 1940s, spending every school vacation working for his father. He took over as president in 1970, and he and his wife, Sydell, continued the family tradition.  They built the World renowned salon in the growing Detroit suburb of Troy.  They continued to cater to the titans of Detroit industry and developed an international following.

Extending the family involvement to a third generation, Douglas and Sydell's son, Brian, a Graduate Gemologist and a Certified Gemologist Appraiser, joined the family business in 1985.  The business continued its reputation for the finest quality and rarest gems.  Unfortunately the banking crisis and the economic downturn of 2008 had a substantial impact on this business forcing the store to close in 2010.

From this experience was born the new concept of Your Private Jeweller.  Brian Schubot is using the knowledge and connections built over the 93 years since his grandfather started selling jewellery to give the demanding jewellery buyers of today the opportunity to experience a new way to buy, or sell,  jewellery.
